Privacy Policy

Decadentry (“we”, “our”, “us”) values transparency, academic integrity and your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you visit decadentry.com, read our articles, subscribe to our newsletter, contact us or comment — and how we protect it.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter: your email address (and name, if you choose to give it) when you subscribe to the Decadentry Brief.
  • Contact form: your name, email address and message.
  • Comments: your name, email address and comment. Your email is never shown publicly.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system and referring page.
  • Usage data such as pages viewed and time on page, collected through analytics cookies (see section 6).

We do not ask for, collect or store health information. Please don’t send us personal medical details.

2. How we use your information

  • To send the newsletter you asked for (you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • To reply to your messages and moderate comments.
  • To understand which articles are useful so we can improve our coverage.
  • To keep the site secure, including filtering spam and abuse.
  • To meet legal obligations.

3. Services we use

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with providers that help us run the site, under their own privacy terms:

  • Hostinger — website hosting, content delivery and email.
  • Hostinger Reach — newsletter subscriptions and delivery.
  • Google (Site Kit / Google Analytics) — anonymous usage statistics.
  • Contact Form 7 and Flamingo — processing and storing contact-form messages on our own server.
  • Antispam Bee — spam filtering of comments, performed on our own server.
  • Amazon — if you click an affiliate link, Amazon may set its own cookies to attribute purchases (see our affiliate disclosure).

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, safety or property.

4. Research content

Our articles summarise published, peer-reviewed studies, with citations and DOI links to the original work, alongside our own interpretation and commentary. We do not claim ownership of third-party research results, images or data. If you are an author and would prefer your work not to be featured, contact us.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Turkey’s KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To make a request, email us at the address below.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working, to remember comment details if you ask us to, and to measure readership through Google Analytics. Affiliate links may set retailer cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work as intended without them.

7. Data retention

We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe, contact messages for as long as needed to handle your request, and approved comments for as long as the article is published. Spam is deleted automatically.

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS on managed hosting with regular updates and security monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Children

Decadentry is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page.
